DL!M PODCAST #10 – Cosmic Cowboys (BACK AND FORTH / IT)

Cosmic Cowboys

Piacere!

___________________________

A strong heat wave has been announced this week. Well.. as you can guess, we obviously felt it at Detente Louhlouh!
DL!m took advantage of the shiny weather to carry on his European tour, always looking for some of the warmest vibes! For the special occasion of this 10th Det’cast, we are glad to welcome the Cosmic Cowboys (Back & Forth / OstWind Records / Resopal, etc.) on the ship!

Tough rigidity from Berlin, smooth eclecticism from Barcelona, and extra deep-fried English cream beats, have been there for the pleasure of our Louhlouhs over the past few months.
This time, we strike the pose in Italy to know a bit more about the talented Venetian duo, which’s living in Berlin today.

Nico (Randomatique) & Kaled Jabari (Kaledj) provide us an exclusive and intense "supa salsa tarabiscota" mix, oscillating between voluptuouness deep house and shiny techno!
The two buddies call extremely well the shots, where gondola atmosphere, ristretto coffee flavour and double cream tiramisu, are perfectly combined with a meticulous and formidably efficient selection.

We invite you to meet the much noticed Italian duo with our interview and a 1hour set.
A sneaky advice: put some solar cream on your face, take a cocktail, and this podcast will definitely go well with your first summer and shiny moments.

Piacere!

Cosmic Cowboys INTERVIEW :

- Hello guys, can you describe yourself and your story for us?

We both born in Casier, a little village closed to Venezia and since we were 14 we immediately discovered a common passion for electronic music. From that moment we never stopped playing and producing our music. The Cosmic Cowboys project began officially in 2008 but we started making music together more than 10 years ago during the school times. For a certain period we both worked on two different solo projects: Nico as Randomatique producing IDM and minimal-techno while Kaled was getting very deep into chill-out and lounge music. After some years we decided to try a remix together and the result was so impressive that from that moment we never stopped working together. After more than 25 vinyls and a lot of remixes for prestigious labels and artists we’re not tired at all and we still like this work as the first day.

- From where the name " COSMIC COWBOYS " came out?

Our stage name hail from the addiction for “western” and “sci-fi” movies which we combined into this name Cosmic Cowboys that perfectly represent our music attitude too. We were at first influenced by artists as Ian Pooley, Dj Deep, Chicken Lips, Frankie Knucles and then by names as Minilogue, Ripperton, Trentemoller, Martin Buttrich and Royksopp and all this different tastes in music brought us to develpe a style that couldn’t be defined with other term than "cosmic", edging between deep-house, dub and tech-house with our quintessential romantic touch, always able to create a special intensity in our music.

- You both live in Italy in Venezia, what’s your opinion about the italo-scene in Europe? How is it she?

It’s really not easy to figure out what our country may offer to the world music scene but we believe that Italy like many other countries in Europe is able to offer the best and the worst of what you can hear around. Alongside some "Class A" names as Marco Carola, Luca Bacchetti, Davide Squillace, Italoboyz, Alex Picone or Tale Of Us there are some some great artists that proofed already their skills as Nico Lahs, Clockwork, Lula Circus, UGLH, Doomwork, Alessio Mereu, Nicholas, Aki Bergen, Rills or Re-UP which are quickly raising and establishing themselves as real international acts requested by all the most important labels and also some new very interesting talents like Domy, Blind Minded, Gabriele Baldi, MuteOscillator, Outart, Francesco Bonora, Alexxei N Nig, Hooved, Genny G and Roy Gilles just to name a few that will surely be some highlights of the house/techno scene in the next years. Of course there are also a lot of people which are in the scene just to look "cool" behind the decks, people without passion and without nothing original to tell and to give to the industry but ok, as we said before, every country delivers good and bad products and Italy is not different from the other ones.

- We know that you created your own party "Origami"? What was the plan?

We created our own party "Origami" in 2009 together with some good friends and since the early begin the target has been to offer something different from what usually all the clubs of the Venice area where doing. Tired from all this mainstream names from mainstream labels which get booked 10 times a year just to fill the club with 2-3000 kids each saturday, we decided to take the opposite direction organizing private parties on invite only in some off locations like venetian villas, castles, boats or pools with a limited number of people (normally around 200) which come to discover everytime new music and not only to dance the same track that they danced the week before. Since we started we had the chance to see performing artists as Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Gorge, youANDme, Varoslav, Tom Demac or Echonomist among the others which no other promoter of the area would have ever booked as they’re considered too less "commercial" to play in their clubs. Anyway, we’re happy to be different and that from our example many smaller organizations started to invest on new interesting artists focusing also on the music and not only on the money they may earn from a party. Now the Venice club scene looks 10 times much better than what it was 3 years ago and we’re very happy to be the two of the ones which started this process of evolution.

- What are you up to next?

Like always we’re fully active with our label Back And Forth, with the gigs and with music production. Even if in the last six months we were a bit out of the scene we were preparing some suprises as our first album, our new projects alongside youANDme called "Castle Of Lies", 2 new EPs featuring Mr. Statik and Lazarusman and also many remixes for friends as Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Italoboyz, Moodymanc or Dj Le Roi which you’ll be able to listen during the next months and that we hope you’ll appreciate!
